Hi,

I'm considering buying a drone but I'm not sure how much I should invest and whether it's worth it or not. I don't have a huge budget, so buying a gadget like this means several months of savings.

It all started this morning when I saw the Parrot Spider thing at about €70. After reading some reviews I found out that I might be better off with something a bit more advanced (the camera isn't able to take videos, it charges in 90 minutes for just 5 to 8 minutes of flight). The most expensive model I could afford is the Parrot AR.Drone 2 Elite at around €300 (I could save money until Christmas or even next summer since it's not a priority at all). I have a few questions thought :

- How do these drones equipped with cameras stream their content to phones/tablets. I haven't seen any 3G/4G feature, does it mean that both the phone and the drone have to be on the same network? Does the drone create a network do I need a (wide range) router?

- Are there cheaper equivalents of the Parrot Spider (drones meant to be used inside primarily) with a better camera and battery life?

- A less casual question : what is the less useless thing between a drone and a smartwatch? (that's more a subjective question :) )

Thanks

1) wifi, they make a network your phone connects to

2) there is always the option of building one yourself bu that requires experience

3) depends, you can use a smartwatch every day but you will probably only use the drone a few times a week or month

unless you walk it every day like you would a dog :P

I had a Hubsan FPV drone with a camera and a live stream lag free video on my controller.  It's a mini drone and I absolutely love it except for the crap 30 minute battery charge!

I actually checked this one earlier today. I didn't notice that it could stream videos. Do you mean that there is a dedicated app for Android devices and you could pilot the drone when it's out of your sight?

EDIT : Nevermind, it was another model from the same brand.
