yeah, which means you might get a higher overclock in the end between the ssc and the sc. their acx cooler is fantastic and their cards are binned quite nicely, and ontop  is the customer support quality

No it's designed for 1080p. 1440p = 390 upwards 4K= 980Ti/Fury X

i still dont see the point of it, my friend paid £350 for the ftw+ and the gigabyte g1 is better and it cost £294 at the time.

Well he can put a waterblock on it without tipping over his warranty. That's something.... and you never know how they perform under water

because amd are idiots, i watched their stream and when they said the 380 was a 4k card i laughed so hard.

The card is capable of outputting 4K content -- both software and hardware wise. HDMI and DisplayPort on the GPU can output 4K.

AMD never stated you can do 4K on Ultra settings. The card is able to power games at 4K, but a much reduced graphical settings (i.e. Medium settings).

It is more than enough capable of outputting 4K media content, such as video playback.

The R9-380 has other uses than the typical "gaming." My Uncle is looking for a new GPU to drive two more additional displays, six in total.

The GTX 900 series is currently unable to drive six displays, only four. He is out to look for a replacement for his current HD 6950.

(rumors say the 6950 can drive six displays with MST hubs, but I need to confirm that) For a sub $400 CDN price point, the R9-380 is an option..

In the gaming mind set, I agree, the R9-380 is more targeted for a 1080p, and reduced settings for 1440p.

@ismmadzx

You won't be able to play the latest AAA game titles at 4K smoothly, with high details, with a R9-380. You will need to look at a much more powerful GPU...or even two.

Consider this, if a 4K monitor is currently $500 ~ $1000, even more for a high refresh rate model, doesn't is make sense you need to spend a fair amount on the GPU(s) to drive the display to its full potential at a gaming perspective?

It will be able to display @ 4K but it won't have good gaming performance - basically - Windows, browser, hearthstone - stuff like that are going to be fine. Witcher 3 Ultra? nah.

4K decent gaming at medium settings? R9 390 is the bare minimum you should be looking at - 970 is a no-go - 3.5GB of VRAM won't get you anywhere. 390X is where I'd start - or the Fury (non-X)
