I've had it since around May, so it's not very old. I was thinking that since I've entered CEGEP and I want to be able to move with my laptop (take notes, go to friend's house, go to father's house etc), it would be more benefic for me to get a laptop, and this is the one that seems to be the best/cheapest. http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-ge62-apache-pro-i7-b2-109528-1891.htm For the RAM and HDD / SSD, I can always upgrade later since it's so cheap nowadays. Do you guys think it's worth it? Games I play are War Thunder, World of Warships, CS GO, Osu!, maybe Arma 3 but it's not sure, maybe Heroes & Generals, Alliance of Valiant Arms. Otherwise, nothing big I think. I can currently pretty much max all of those games, and I would love to be able to also do so on the laptop, but I'm not really sure. Any insight? Thanks!

For the love of all that is worthwhile and good in this world, don't replace your desktop with a laptop.

I certainly hated having a gaming laptop as my main computer, not to mention the fact that it completely died on me outside of warranty.

They run hot.

They have poor graphics (yes, even the gaming laptops).

They can possibly have integrated redundancy.

You need to send it to the manufacturer to get it fixed.

Save yourself the headaches.

I was also thinking that I could upgrade, but since I don't have any computer at my dad's house, I figured instead of buying something for 500~600$ there, might just get a laptop I can move around. ;_;

If you sell that PC you'll get 500-600 best which won't get you a gaming laptop, save some money and add 4 more gigs of ram and pick up at least an i3 and you'll be fine. That's like 150$ total.

Maybe try to get to a smaller form factor, something that you can move and keep a keyboard monitor and mouse at both places. Something like the Cooler Master Elite 110 is super tiny and easy to take places. I've built in it and there's plenty of room.

Regarding gaming on laptops, I already did so, so I know the struggle, but that was LOOOOOOOOOOOONG ago on a 600$ HP Pavilion DV4. It eventually burned, but heck, I guess that was my fault for pushing it like crazy. And I also kinda want to get away from gaming, so that's why I was thinking something like the GE62. Need to concentrate on studies.

Hello everyone. I'm making this post as I'm pondering on whether I should sell my current desktop and get myself a gaming laptop. Also, if you could tell me about how much I could sell my PC for (as much as possible), it'd be appreciated. Here's the specs list.

YOuwill not gte a laptop you're happy with if you sell this PC and buy a laptop with no extra cash added.

If you have the disposable cash, a gaming laptop can be great. It sounds like you would be better off just upgrading your desktop, though, as a laptop will never be a satisfying replacement. I just recently got a gaming laptop (not as a desktop replacement but because I want to be able to play games somewhat effectively on the go) and I will say I'm happy with it but would never get rid of my desktop.

If money is tight and you need a laptop, just save up and get a ~$500 laptop and then upgrade your desktop for games. If money isn't tight then by all means get a gaming laptop.

For a really long time I only had an Athlon ii x2 250, 4GB DDR2 and an HD 5770 (till early 2014), so gaming at max settings has never been for me. As long as I can watch my anime, play CSGO, a bit of War Thunder and some other games here and there, I'm happy. Heck, for the past month, when my R9 280x was getting RMA (took two RMA to fix it bloody hell Gigabyte), I was playing on the Integrated graphics (Intel HD Graphics), and I was alright. CS GO 60fps and a bit of lag? Np. Osu! @ roughly 240fps? Np! That's why I was thinking of getting a laptop, since I know that if I upgrade CPU and RAM and etc, I still won't use all the power. But then again, is it REALLY worth it. I could always re-build a new PC later on, along with my laptop, so it's chill, but even then.

Hmm. I'll think of it. I might in the end just not sell my computer, keep it like that (or only add 4GB, as right now it's chill), and just save for a completely new laptop. Canadian dollar is pretty bad, so. Same laptop is like 1100$ while it's 1300$ here. Oh well.
