Intel rapid storage technology... Does it even do anything?

I try to keep my windows install as clean as possible with as little of things running as I can, because I do a lot of benchmarking and other things on my OS.  ( I also like having less things opening at startup to make startup faster)

 

I was wondering if Intel "RST" actually does anything?

 

I had it on a previous install and it didn't seem to do anything.

 

 

Also, does this seem normal?

 

( This is an 840 Pro that's about 2 years old now)

the intel software is for raid

 

and yes your speeds are normal
