Issues with MGS V PP

I downloaded this game last night, and it ran perfectly in the prologue mission, however every single time I try chapter 1 the game doesn't load, at all. It will make sound leading up to it showing the Chapter 1 text and then it would just go to a black screen, sometimes crashing, sometimes doing nothing no matter how long i wait.

I literally have no idea what the issue is. I have an I7-4790k, 16gb of ram, and a gtx 980 so it's not like my rig is weak.

 

I even tried moving the game to a different hard drive, and I also tried redownloading the game.

Though the requirements looks insane on the CPU side of things, it really is strange that you can't run it at all. Could be issues with patches, which is normal these days for first-day releases and I would also like to see it stop like just about everyone else.

Maybe.

My 4tb hdd was showing signs of dying, that being the drive all my steam games are on. So I copied all my games to my 2tb sshd and then made a backup image of everything else on my 4tb drive and saved it to my 2tb sshd, and then filed an RMA for it. It still isn't working on my 2tb drive. I might try running it on my ssd and see if it can

Yeah try that out. If it doesn't work then, run a diagnostic tool to find out what's really wrong with the system. If it's the storage that's going out because I can't see that the CPU/GPU config being the problem, then replace all of the storage. Yeah it will be a pain in the ass, but that may very well be the last resort.

Do you know any good diagnostic tools?

It wont let me put it on my ssd, it being set to read only and wont let me change it

If you're running Windows 7 or 8/8.1, press and hold the Windows key and press R, this will bring up the run window. Then type in perfmon /report to run the diagnostic tool. It's free and it comes with the OS =)

Not sure what the deal is, if maybe its just windows 10 or something. I never had any issues with 8.1 pro

maybe do a game file verification in steam

and use a tool to remove your video drivers...reboot...then get the newest from nvidia/amd

I verified my cache earlier and it came up alright.

I'll try doing a clean install of my drivers

.. What? Just Uninstall like any other object.

Anyways I think this is a win 10 issue.

Not sure if the game is fully optimized for win 10.

Your hardware is fine, I know old cpu's like the phenom 2 can't run the game because some outdated feature on the CPU.

Just uninstalled and reinstalled it all and it still doesnt load.

I'm going to wait til I get my new 4tb hdd after the RMA goes through, if it still doesn't work i might just go back to 8.1 pro

i have 3 drives, ssd and 2 hdds, and my hdds both decided to start crapping out at the same time

I ended up buying a windows 8.1 pro key and setting up a dual boot on my pc for windows 10 pro and windows 8.1 pro. I can finally play the game now, although the cutscene for the intro to chapter 1 had no audio for some reason. The game itself has audio, just not that cutscene

weird.... well at least you can play.
