Ben S
Go to solution Solved by don_svetlio,

thx guys ill just go with the SeaSonic M12II EVO 520W just to be safe :)

Can't got wrong with SeaSonic - literally everything they make is good quality.

Very bad idea - don't mean to scare you but the CX PSUs are bad with K chips - they might fry your stuff

but only when you overclock rite? i have the cx750m, i watched some reviews on youtube and read reviews from newegg. seems fine to me

CX 750m is a rebranded TX IIRC so it's a different platform.

The 3770k + GTX 950 has a power draw of <~200wDC. Despite being an entry level PSU (CWT DSA-III), the CX430v3 should indeed be able to power a system like that without any trouble.

If you want us to provide a recommendation, however, it would be helpful to know your budget as well as if you provide links to stores that you are able to buy from.

@Aniallation can correct me if wrong but I believe the 750M CX is a TX unit, the predecessor to the HX line.

Ignore this guy - the CX 430W is not meant for overclocking - it's an office PSU meant for lightweight components and light use - OC the CPU on this and you will have a bonfire to roast a deer at.

Just because it's an typical entry level, group-regulated PSU doesn't mean it will cause a "bonfire" if you are going to overclock it.

Either way, I was merely making a point that the CX430v3 is capable of powering. However, I preferred not to recommend it if I was given the choice which is why I had asked for his budget and location to where he is able to buy from.

@Aniallation can correct me if wrong but I believe the 750M CX is a TX unit, the predecessor to the HX line.

CX750M = cost down CWT PUQ-B series (rated at 30C instead of 50C. Uses a sleeve bearing fan instead of a 2BB fan. Uses 85C Primary Japanese Caps and 105C Taiwanese Caps instead of full 105C Japanese caps).

TX750v1 = CWT PSH

TX750v2 = Seasonic SS-***AT

TX750v3 = custom build Chicony Hipro

TX750Mv1 = CWT PSH-III

TX750mv2 = Chicony Hipro

If I read that last bit correctly, the HX line was never part of the segment that the TX line was in. The HX were in the high-end segement, while the TX is in the mainstream segment (technically, Corsair intended the RM series to be the successor to the TX series).

Yeah - already got corrected - the CX 750M is the rebadged GS 750 one, not the TX.

I personally wouldn't dare OC on a CX PSU - but your call.

Seeing how the CX430 is $45 and the M12II-B Evo 520w Evo is $75 ($30 difference), it would mean you from the US and buying from Newegg correct?

Being a group-regulated PSU, it's electrical performance is comparable to the CX series (with the exception of the 750w model), so the overclocking potential should be as well. Of course, it (the Seasonic) does offer better build quality, a longer 5 year warranty, and full modularity. These aspect often makes the S12II/M12II a better option than the CX, but the price is a bit too high.

If you want to spend more money on something, the Seasonic G SSR-550RM would be a higher quality PSU that is vastly superior to both these units. It's currently $69.99 before shipping. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=76942&promoid=1510

The Cooler Master G450M/550M could also be an cheaper option as well.
