I would go with the gigabyte one. The MSI one has a bit of sagging, and is audible under load unless you want it to run 80C (which I had for the first few months, but then summer came)

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

MoBo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger                      Graphics: MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr (1494MHZ Core)       OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

I use the G1 Gigabyte, it has a sexy style to it and runs good, right now idle it's only 33c, and under load can get into 70's but never goes above 75, also is medium on a scale of low to wind turbine audio wise.

Mine does get a bit toasty.

Which is what I sort of complain about. All tech youtubers went "erhmagerd 970 quierrt ern cewl" but failed to realise it wasn't quiet when it was cool, and wasn't cool when it was quiet. It's a compromize thing - I will personally turn back the fan speed when it gets colder, to about 40% which I had before, quiet and 80C, but during the summer I am running up to 60% fan speed with 70-75C where it is definitely not quiet (still lower speed than their default quiet mode which is said to be super quiet)

I use the G1 gaming as well! It's an overclocking BEAST! Granted overclocks are just chance you do have a slightly better chance of getting a better overclock because of the binning and better overall build quality of this card.

I have gotten 1580mhz on the core and 8000mhz on my memory!

Just out of curiosity I just starting digging into adding voltage. Not that the performance increase is very much but I pushed my card to 1603mhz and got it stable with good temps. The amazing thing is there is still some more room for overclocking.

Like I said overclocking is chance. But you'll get the most consistent, better overclocks with this card. I've also heard the Galax HOF is very good but it's pretty expensive for a 970.

First build every: Intel Core i7 4790K, Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 motherboard, Kingston HyperX FURY 1866 2x8 16GB Kit, Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming, Corsair Obsidian 450D Black ATX Mid Tower, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & 3TB Toshiba HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2, Corsair H100i GTX 240mm, Gigabyte Bluetooth 4.0/Wifi Card, Logitech G700S. Running on Windows 10

Surface Pro 3: i5 4300U with 8GB of ram and 256GB SSD. Running Windows 10 Pro

Asus Strix Or gigabyte G1

Strix is the worst it's generally more expensive and has crippled power delivery.

I'd go for the MSI/EVGA SSC for silence g1 for cooling performance.

I prefer Gigabyte G1 gaming, Just for it's cooling and it's overclocking capability.

Also EVGA SSC is too good!!
