Same here, it's as if Windows is trolling me every time I want to play Battlefield.

Oh also the automatic shut down to do a windows update. Make me want to stab my computer when that happens during an overnight render or download.

feels on them, but really i can't complain a MASSIVE amount about windows, it's more attainable/more stuff on it than Linux, and it's just flat better in every way (for my usage) than Mac OS. I'll not complain!

Windows Anytime Upgrade. -_-

No, nvm. WinSAT. Ugh. Why can't Aero be enabled by default?

I think to fix that you go into computer > advanced system settings > performance then select something else besides "let windows babby sit my computer".

Tried that numerous times, but it keeps coming back.

You can turn that off through gpedit, though, which is nice.

Only two things about Windows 8 really bug me at this point: search being totally broken and the more restricted file permissions.  Who the hell is TrustedInstaller and why does he have more control over my Program Files than I do?  And hopefully 8.1 fixes search.

the search is broken, but i think they changed something in 8.1 (not sure what/how) and maybe that is better. honestly tho, the search in win7 also had some issues. I never understood the whole permissions concept because on my computers i would only have one account. windows 8 also feels a bit odd because there is no aero glass

IT'S NOT FAST ENOUGH

but seriously I hate how when I mod Minecraft, I have to use win + r to actually bring up the Appdata folder, and I hate the user system being my PC is only for one person, and all the files are all weird, my (placebo) OCD gets to me

but I really love modding my themes, Placebo theme on my PC looks absolutely stunning

Things that irritate me:

  • windows can't be undecorated
  • Drive letters make programmers assume that their program is install on C:
  • The registry is there but programs rarely use the values they put into it
  • Can't make the CMD prompt full screen width (wtf?)
  • Homegroups and similar not being compatible across versions of windows (Which is why businesses still use XP)

Probably more I haven't encountered in a while too..

Things I've overcome:

  • Multiscreen taskbars (thanks actual multimonitos)
  • Windows update is set to only warn me of security updates and its up to me to install them
  • Windows 8 on my laptop? I installed Crunchbang !#, problem solved.

That covers most of the problems I've shared with the other posts

Just to comment on some points:

 - Multi-screen taskbar is in Windows 8.

 - Companies don't use HomeGroup, they use the standard Network folder system. And that is not the reason why companies stick to XP.
