yes it will work

one can be used for one thing while the other GTX is used for gaming

a lot of people have quadro+gtx systems with both cards at a time, but im not 100% sure how having two different GPU drivers works

obviously youi cant use both cards for the same thing since you cant sli them

also you can mix an AMD card in, that wont work

Yes;

You use the Quadro for display outout but force gaming using the other card. Its effort to do -> you could also use a displayport switcher/multiple ports on same monitor and swap inputs (probably), but doing it in software is a pain (took me a good day or 2 of tinkering to get to work).

What I plan to do is use my Quadro card while using GTX 960. I want to use my GTX 960 for gaming and the Quadro for school work and rendering in Sony Vegas and other programs. This is for a new build I'm doing.

Can you clarify exactly what you're trying to do?

Do you want to Render on the Quadro WHILE gaming on the 960?

Swapping the cards out, yes, but the two cards at once, maybe

Yes it is possible

What I want to do is have both of them running on the system. When I am gaming I want to use my 960 and when I'm not and doing work for school and stuff I would really like to use my Quadro.

But you are using them at different times, correct? So you do some gaming, then, afterwards, you render a video, etc.

In this case, yeah, no problem. Ideally, you would also swap the monitor between whichever card you want to use. Some programs will allow you to select which GPU to render with, but some will just use the default GPU (Which is the one that the monitor is plugged into).

Love the idea, but which drivers do I ideally would want to use?

You would install them both.

Use the GeForce driver when installing the GTX 960, and use the Quadro driver when installing the Quadro.
