Scrapyards War Challenge!

Jacktastic-Mofo

Hey guys, so I was inspired by Scrapyards Wars to onto my local Craigslist and see what type of PC I could build with $500 (USD) and needless to say I'm pretty impressed. Go ahead and drop your builds down below :)

(this is just an image, don't try and click the links :P )

I'd go for a cheaper case to get a better storage solution at least - maybe a better GPU too.

Also I know some of them say Providence and some say Boston and the reason is the city I live in Woonsocket, is directly between the two :P

Lol, it's cool to go over. If $500 is too hard to hit try for 550 or 600.

people try to sell 9800 GTX's for $200. not even joking. pretty much every other GPU on it is similarly overpriced.

That's crazy, on Rhode Island's Craigslist I saw a 290X for like 200$.

I recently traded a copy of Windows for some old parts from a guy doing a new build.

Got a FX-4100, Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P, 4GB Corsair DDR3, XFX Radeon HD 6770 and a 600W PSU. So I picked up a new cheap DIY case, WD Blue 1TB HDD, and OS and got myself a decent red rig to mess with (for a total of $115).

660Tis, 670s and 680s all can be bought in EBay for less then $150. ( 660Tis I see going for about $60-$70 ) Sandy .bridge i5s and mobos $120ish so let's say about $240. Storage $30 , $270. Could find a solid case for $30, $300 ram $25 $325. Honestly... $325 ( depends on the GPU ) $325-$375 can't go wrong. A after market cooler could be $30 $405 and a PSU find a reliable one for $50 new or used. $455 and the $45 is to leave room for price error.

Bam.
