Is my CPU bottlenecking my GPU?

I didn't think so before, but someone told me there aren't enough pcie lanes or something with my CPU so it bottlenecks my GPUs? I'm not too tech savvy, if you can't tell.

 

CPU: i7-4790K

GPU: SLI GTX 980Ti

2 way sli no, 3 way, yes if you managed to get that to work.

No. PCI lanes only matter if you are running multiple GPUs. Even if you have your card installed in an 8x slot it still doesn't matter.

If you play at like 480p you might be CPU bound!, but no it isnt a bottleneck...

Yeah nvidia cards need a minimum of 8 lanes (4 with AMD cards) to run in sli so you couldn't do 3 or 4 way sli on a z97 rig IFAIK, so your fine with 2 980ti's in sli, unless your running something else in one of the other slots that would cause the lanes to run in a different config other than 8x8
