Choose CPU for GTX960

I will buy GTX960 (2GB or 4GB) and I don't know if core i3 4170 is enough. I just don't want to face any bottleneck.

Now I am running 1280x1024 resolution but in a few months i will go in a 1920x1080 monitor.

core i3 4160 (127 euros)

core i3 4370 (171 euros)

core i5 4460 (210 euros)

 

But rly I can't afford the 171 and 210 euros so i will have to wait

I have the i3-4150 + a GTX 960 G1 Gaming Edition and versus benchmarks I've seen there are no bottlenecks so any CPU you choose will be fine, however if you can spare the cash go with the i5-4460, you'll have the best all around desktop performance- OR, save money go with the i3-4170 and maybe try and get a cheap SSD. My system specs are in my signature and I think I've got a great combo.

4460k, as it's an i5 and it's way more efficient for gaming performance than an i3 CPU, if you can afford the extra amount.

I play at 1920x1080, and sometimes using NVidia DSR I play at 4k. An example is I was playing BF3 and BFH over the past few days and both games are maxed out with 60+ FPS, Arma III maxes out with 60+ FPS, Hitman: Absolution Max 60+ FPS, and CS:GO gets enough FPS to use a 144hz monitor.

the i3 haswell is much better than the athlon 860k.

If you get the 960, I would get the i5 to be safe, however it really depends on the games you play, for example, my CPU is a huge bottleneck in GTA V.

4460 is more "future proof" (I dislike that word) due to it having more cores. Look at older gen i5s, they're still doing well

Unfortunatelly I can't find older cpu.
