Looking to download a program to watch blu ray disks. What do you guys use?

Bluray really is a shitty format with the changing keys and the insanely overpriced licenses.

You'll have to google for some VLC codecs or something, might be your best bet.

If you're using Ubuntu you can compile VLC and add some repositories [you'll easily find this on google] and get around paying the licenses.

i have PowerDVD12 which sucks like hell. If vlc can play back blu rays, get it. unfortunately it couldnt when i wanted to watch blu rays! :D

I use PowerDVD11, it really is god awful! If I switch inputs on my TV whilst watching a blu-ray and go back to the pc input I suddenly don't have permission to play it!

 

I'm like WDAFUQ?!?! ~eject disc and spend the next few minutes getting back to where I was~

 

On a side note on a lot of the blu-rays I watch it stutters at certain parts which I can only imagine are the chapter divisions. This is incredibly annoying! It didn't do this when I first used it for playback, but does now. Not sure if it's my drive or a software issue.

Your best bet would be to convert your blurays into MKV.

I use MakeMKV for blu rays. Either I can convert them into an .mkv in about 20 minutes or just stream them directly into VLC.
