This video by  Jim Sterling. If you don't know who he is, well he's a guy that usually talks about video game companies and the various bullshit that they try to employ and do on a daily basis in this generation of gaming. He also does reviews for indie games and gameplay videos as well.

So basically what he says what Fee 2 Pay means is purchasing a fully 60$ game, then the game developers add in micros-transactions.  He doesn't like it very much and says it's not excusable for a 60$ game to have micro-transactions which I can agree to however. He talks about how Dead Space 3 resource system, which players can purchase resources for extra help to making weapons and how EA said that you can obtain resources naturally in the game which is completely true and I haven't spent a single damn cent on the game.

He also goes into detail about how it's a battle between the game dev's and the player for squeezing dry their wallet after purchasing the game. My thoughts are that IF and ONLY IF they DO NOT have it naturally in the game, and the people are forced into purchasing resources I can see how that would be an issue. But in Dead Space 3 you can use these bots and find resources, kill enemies, find resource boxes, and stomp boxes for resources and when your little bots find resources they also find tickets which are free and can also be used to purchase resource packs free of charge. And I found the game enjoyable and I didn't waste a single cent.

So I don't see what the whole big problem is with micro-transaction. I can only see a problem if you are forced to purchase resources in order to keep going on and have no way to obtain said resources which isn't very true at all.  But I can admit it's true they shouldn't have micro-transactions in 60$ game or any game for that matter unless it's Free 2 Play then I can see why that would be needed but that should only be for credits, skins, and maybe emblems if you really want them.

What are your guy's opinion on the matter ?

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

If I buy a TV for 600 dollars, with Displayport and HDMI inputs, I don't want to find out it doesn't have HDMI and Displayports natively, and that they are telling me it will cost me 100 dollars too get them to install the ports.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

Micro-transactions are acceptable so long as not having them doesn't negatively impact the experience (for example, being able to buy in-game currency with real money and yet the developers haven't done that much to slow down money-making (A good example of what I mean is Turn10's Forza Motorsport 4/5 Forza Horizon/2, etc. There's still extra car-based DLC, but being able to purchase car tokens doesn't hurt the experience at all.) I don't like content-adds with DLC, I think the developer should just release the game when it's finished and not try to add so much to it for extra chunks of money.

I agree with Sterling. 60 bucks are already a lot of money for a videogame, especially if it's digitally distributed (the profit margin quite literally doubles if not more over a physical copy). The problem with the way dead space 3 does it is that while you can still access the stuff in the game, you'll never know if they were made scarcer than was necessary (or good) in an attempt to get you to pay. Overall it's unnecessarily greedy and bad practice. But there are worse things; one of the big reasons I didn't buy bf4 was the premium day one season pass. To own the full game you needed to spend 110 bucks; ridiculous. And on top of that there were microtransactions for items iirc. All this at the expense of mod support; who'd buy overpriced map packs if you could just download as many maps as you pleased for free? That and it's continuous attempts to copy call of duty instead of bringing forward what made it good in its first installments completely turned me off.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

It just doesn't feel right for me, even if micro transactions are completely optional. It ruins immersion, when you are trying your best to gather some currency, and whenever you open inventory there is a sign "Buy 2 hours worth of grinding only for 4,99$".
This thing came from mobile market, and there are not a single good thing in mobile market.

Haha I found it funny that there are people who actually accept it as it is despite being supportive or just being passive about it.

The thing is, this kind of action lead to (and usually) problems which often not recoverable

it's not like we are in a time where a good game were rare to find.

With adding those thing, the company isn't really "our friendly neighborhood"

they want profits, period.

with that way, they can control the amount of things that you will get depends on content they sell on their store

classic move, these just few example in most mmo F2P market (and within years been starts to implement in freemium/subscribes game and again full retail price game)

EXP Boost

Item Drops

Characters

Class characters

Progression Lock

Level lock

these is happening wether you want to admit it or not.

those things were in-games, we were rewarded by playing those game with achievement (which I mean real achievement not just reports on your game profile)

Some game we have to complete hard mode to get secret level, secret items, etc

and...... they just skip that parts, and monetize it.

I don't like them at all, I feel like my efforts get wasted when I can just buy my way through it, Popular MMO's have started implementing micro transactions, games like Runescape I once loved I now hate because half the shit in the game requires you to spend $60 on a game of chance to win, you can even pretty much buy the gold for the game from them along with having to pay the monthly fee, you can no longer look at someones progress and go "Wow you worked hard" It's "Did you just buy it all?" and that's not what games are about :(

As for games like CS:GO and LoL while I don't really enjoy the games myself the whole skins idea I sort of like, it adds an element to the game where it in no way effects gameplay just a small side thing you can choose to participate in and it doesn't matter if you do or don't

I gave up on angry birds transformers cuzni had to wait hours if not days to advance if i didnt pay for imediate continuation.

I prefer games like dirty bomb where its free to win yes they offer paid transactions too they need to pay the bills, but loadout cards are random even if u pay.yes i could get mercs faster and loadout cards but its more fun to me to earn them and i already have nader proxy aura and i dont realy want any more as i only use nader 95% of the time and i earn load out cards fairly quickly one to 2 a day.

I think it was Totalbiscuit who said that you can't trust companies not messing with the progression of the game when micro-transactions are involved.

Dead Space 3 was totally fine. But if a full price game comes out with micro-transactions included and it feels like a bit of a chore to earn your weapons or what-have-you, is it just slow game progression or did they make it slower on purpose to tempt you into throwing a few extra dollars their way?

I ignore every Game with micro transactions. And not only me, all my Friends do it the same way. So in the End, the Companies lose Money.

Exeptions are F2P Games like Planetside 2. This Game is absolutly cool without payment, but you can speed up things a bit. No big Deal here. But Fullprice Games with this moneycrapshit?...Fuck off.

Unity, DS3, Evolved ect. all this Games can go to Hell.

SNIP

As Jim said, even if the game has the resources within the game, its still a barrier, if the game is built around a mini game to get you upgrades, fair enough, or something like MGS4 where you get currency to buy weapons - but if so, the developer does not need to sell these seperately

The fact is, no developer that has micro transactions built in will why away from artificially limiting you from obtaining everything without paying

even if in a small way, it will effect the game
