EVGA GTX 780 CLASSIFIED faster than titan!

EFD307

Where's the 4GB version of the 770s SLI? In reality no one would run 3 1080p with 2GB cards in SLI...

That's my point. 2GB is too little if there is any vram bottleneck the performance suffers greatly.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

I would buy a 780 if it had more than 3gb of VRAM. A card this powerful is made to push high resolutions and 3gb doesn't give me enough leeway for a future SLI.

Agreed if you want 4K you need more vram

Even if you are at less than 4k or if you want to use lots of AA.  Tomb raider will use 2.5GB of my 7970s at 1080p with 4x AA turned on.  Crysis 3 at 2560 x 1440 with AA can use over 3GB of Vram.

i7 4770k, 16GB Corsair Vengeance

Gigabyte z87, Phanteks Enthoo Primo

He's talking about the GTX 770 though - there are 4GB versions available of that card.

He was asking whether he should get a 780 or a 4gb 770. He then asked about 4gb 780's. I told him that there won't be 4gb 780's.

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place

I didn't see him mention a 780 - he was asking if it was worth it for him to spend an extra $40 per card to get a 4GB version of the 770s.

Which I would say is definitely worth it. :)

It's not worth the price if he ain't doing any surround or 4K

Games right now are already maxing out 2GB cards at 1080p. If you can get more VRAM, you should just go for it - you'll have more freedom for modding games as well as the ability to expand into multi-monitor setups or 4K should you desire it.

I would say such a small price difference is worth it.

OMG we just spent an entire thread proving why it is worth it, please keep your "OPINIONS" to yourself. Should you spend 10% more on a video card to get double memory and make the card last twice as long... duh.

Why go for a 770 4GB for $450 when a 7970 is $300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008 (with rebate) and a 7950 for $200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127737 which they both offer 3GB VRAM

Since CFX Frame Rating is fixed, 7950 CF is a better choice and outperforms a 770 for a cheaper/same price.

Those are great cards, but that's a completely separate issue. Which card is better is a totally different discussion from whether you should get double memory cards or not.

But yeah, a 2 or 3 7950's would be pretty awesome for the money. Even though i have titans, i'd still say for the money the two best setups would be crossfire/trifire 7950/7970's or SLI 770 4gb models.
