Right, I need a new processor my current i7 3770 just isn't cutting it I can't encode in x264 and play games. So I'm currently on the nvidia codec. Which is awful quality.

So I need a processor which isn't stupidly priced like the 5960x but it good enough to stream and play a game. I don't even mind going amd. :o but I want to be able to play minecraft from time to time so that single core performance matters. Any suggestions. As I really don't know what is good.

What would be helpful is rather than put the one you think is best. Maybe put two or three or more as I do have a limited budget. So please nothing more than 400 pounds (sterling UK).

Ummmm? Are your OBS settings alright, and what games are you playing because I'm running OBS fine on an I3 4430. Maybe lower the bitrate?

Hard to believe your 3770 cant handle your needs. What resolution are you streaming with?

With a budget of 400£ the fastest you could probably get is 4790k+cheap board

Or is the 400£ budget CPU only?

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3D | MoBo: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk | RAM: G.Skill F4-3600C15D-16GTZ @3800CL16 | GPU: RTX 2080Ti | PSU: Corsair HX1200 |

I stream at a bitrate of 8000 on nvidia and 5000 on x264 and it uses loads of my processor.

That's it then. You should only use 3500 for twitch anyways. Just down that a little and it will be fine. https://obsproject.com/estimator Use this to see what you should use for settings

@alexjt11 the i7-5820 is an amazingly efficient CPU for its price. 6 cores 12 threads rocks it. The issue is the prices of X99 motherboards. If you can afford it, grab it right now. Best bang for the buck with this CPU.

Although I doubt it's your CPU's fault to be honest, 3770k should be fine.

250 pounds: http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117402&Tpk=i7-5820k

If your budget for the CPU only is 400 pounds add a water cooler or a Dark Rock Pro 3 for instance (since it comes without a stock heatsink) and overclock it to 4,4 from 3,3 for example.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

I'm not recording I'm streaming though and it uses about 60 to 70 percent of my processor alone so running bf4 is impossible. If you could post pictures of your settings I would appreciate it. Maybe I have messed something up? I mean the quality is really good!!!

Also I'm streaming to YouTube

Still use the OBS estimator, but again, 8000 is too high. and so it 5000. Keep it down to a maximum of 3500, the reason that is twitches max is because there isn't too much difference after that and it just becomes harder for people to watch on the other end.
