Performance UltraWide 21:9 vs 16:9

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

I was thinking so too. Any approach or source for this? I swear I searched before asking but found nothing cool.

There's not a whole load of 2560x1080 benchmarks around, so it's hard to compare really.

I'd suggest taking a look at 1080p and 1440p benchmarks, then 2560x1080p should be around in the middle of those, leaning more towards 1080p.

Hello world,

I'm thinking for upgrading to an UltraWide monitor

Is there any difference at gaming perfomance (fps basically) between a 1920x1080 classic monitor and a 2560x1080 one?

I mean, let's suppose a benchmark with the same CPU and GPU but changing monitors. As an UltraWide monitor has more resolution and pixels on one of his axis, Will it affect perfomance against and 16:9 1080p one? Will it be even noticeable?

Sorry if the question is dumb, and sorry about my english too.

PD: also, UltraWide 1080p monitor suggestions are accepted.

Yes. It will be a fair bit different.

1920x1080 = 2073600
2560x1080 = 2764800
2560x1440 = 3686400

It's still a way off 1440P, but there is a fair increase in the amount of pixels being pushed. How much it will affect performance will depend on the GPU.

it has to calculate about 500x1080 pixels more for ultrawide so frame rate will drop in comparison to 16:9
