Not hard, they see Pentium III and think it is 3x better. My grandmother thinks here Pentium 4 is better than the newer ones cause of the 4

Yea I remember running Minecraft on a Pentium D for a while and that was not fun... the GT 210 ran it like a charm when you ignored the studers caused by the CPU lol

My friend couldn't run league on his pentium D at 640x480 on it lowest settings... Same with minecraft.

if it was entirely CPU bound then the graphics settings wouldn't matter. I can run MC at any settings and it makes no difference to the FPS.

Considering I was able to run Minecraft just fine on a Cored Duo T2600.....which is effectively 2x Pentium III at 2.16GHz on the same die. And yes the Copermine Pentium III has an IPC far in excess of the Pentium 4, let alone the die shrunk Tulatine, Dothan and Yonah.

Well, on the far right where there's a giant strip there needs to be some to finish that row off, the chokes to the left of those components need pads, and then above that by the larger capacitor, the little cluster of black things needs to be covered as well.

Hey guys, I would like your opinion on some ideas I had.

 

IDEA 1

I was thinking about seeing if my 480 would fit in an old mATX HP case that I have, and if it does, possibly making a sleeper out of it. It would start with a Q6600, 4GB of RAM, and a crappy motherboard, but might get to something like an FX-6300 or whatever happens to be the cheapest with that amount of performance if I can even upgrade this thing.

 

One problem would be the power supply, since the one I'm using for this build is really crammed into my 300R and it would take a LOT of work to get it out, which I do not really want to do.

The other idea I had was to look for a cheap (but not sucky) LGA 775 motherboard with an EXTREMELY similar layout to the M2N-SLI DELUXE (possibly even down to fan headers, but the SATA connectors would have to be in pretty much the exact same spot as what they are on the AMD board), and then swap that in. Of course, I don't have any money for that, so that could take some work, but yeah.

I got an old matx MSI 775 board that is slightly shorter than mATX, you pay for shipping with that PIII board and it is all yours.

Ok so it has a PCIex1 slot and a PCI slot that are usable when a dual slot card is in.

Ok let me get some pictures, have another motherboard also but you would be covering the PCIex1 slot with a dual slot card.

So, I've decided to go with making this into an mATX build with a Q6600, and then make the parts in my AMD rig wait for a full AMD part deal (a la 5850).

 

However, I am going to need some parts. A 3.5" 3 fan controller, 2 3.5 to 2.5 adapters (with two drive capacity each), a Hyper TX3, and one of those front panel wiring kits since there is no power/reset button (mobo is set to turn on when I give it power).

 

Long term parts will be a new mobo.

Also, the GTX 480 will just BARELY fit, which I super dig.
