What's the difference between these 2 chipsets ?

What is the difference between z87 and z97. Is there a big difference and is it worth the extra cash for z97 ?

z97 is better for overclocking and has more features and there isnt really much of a price difference to i would say yess

z-87 for haswell    z-97 for haswell refresh( devils canyon)

z87- i5-4670k, i7-4770k

z-97- i5-4690k, i7-4790k

I went with Z87 with a Devil's Canyon cpu because the mobo was on sale for $55 before a $40 mail in rebate. You'll be fine with either, but for me, low price always wins.

Basically, Z97 supports Broadwell CPUs, and it's newer. Also, z87 may need a BIOS update to accept Haswell Refresh CPUs, although pretty much every mobo you'll find is already with a compatible BIOS. Unless it's some dude selling it, but you can just request the guy to update before shipping it to you.
