Posted August 14, 2015 Well, my eBay searches for a unibody MBP on eBay were absolutely hopeless, so I'm open to some more options. Right now I have a Latitude E4300 which is fine for now, but it has random issues where it just freezes and throws an audio loop if there's anything playing. So I'm not really sure what that's all about, so now I'm looking for a second-hand laptop for about $150 that comes with at least 4GB of RAM (and the ability to upgrade to at least 8GB later on) and the charger. It doesn't need to have a hard drive, since I might just steal the SSD out of this laptop if the other one proves to be good (assuming I go through with this). In terms of processing power, nothing lower than a Core 2 Duo clocked somewhere around 2.5GHz. Anything lower is like murder for what I do. Oh, and an optical drive is a must. Battery life should be fairly good (at least 3 hours doing basic web browsing), since this will be used for work-y stuff and school. As for manufacturers, I don't like Toshiba at all, and Dell and ASUS are probably my favorites. I have a soft spot for the newer Latitude laptops. Posted August 14, 2015 I have a dell e6400 I bought 3 or 4 years ago I'm still using a lot. For 140$. 4GB memory, dual core, 7200rpm hdd, odd, 1440x900 screen, great battery health, ect. Decent deal at the time. Look for laptops that are retired from workplaces, like slightly old dell lattitude series IT departments sell the retired laptops on ebay for cheap. muh specs Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0 ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat All parts black Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays Screens- 3 ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.
