raid 0 questions

Hard drives are not as popular as SSD's with RAID Zero, because they don't benefit performance a lot. Hard drives are mainly for RAID One where it's important to keep data. If you do want to go with RAID Zero however, you need to configure this in you BiOS which will be different based on your motherboard manufacturer.

ok the motherboard is from gigabyte.

In all seriousness though, RAID Zero on hard drives isn't worth it, because it takes up a ton of space and will only improve your performance by like 30%. I'd just get an SSD.

ok but i have on OS on it what should i do? it was a first build if you think i am dumb.

I'd suggest you try just to learn the method but honestly, it's not worth it. You can RAID0 different models and even sizes of disks but the speed difference between them will cause stuttering. So if you're buying, get identical. And again, going from around 120MBps to around 200MBps using RAID0 is basically waste of money. A regular SSD would have been twice as fast. The info you need to set it up is in the motherboard's manual. You will lose all your data when you start and also when you want to revert back. The F6 driver for your raid chip is also crucial so have it on a flash drive before you start or else you wonlt likely be able to install windows on it.

hello i want to put 2 hard drives in raid 0 but i don't know how. how would i do that? do i need a card to do it? could i use a WD blue with a WD green in raid 0? thanks!

No, you cannot RAID a WD Blue and a WD Green. Well, you can, but the array would fail very quick as both drives are not made for RAID. It is not recommended to combine drives of different types either (Blue being 7200RPM while Green being 5400RPM). You need to look at the WD Red, Red Pro, or SE drives for RAID.

If you want fast, you really need a SSD. RAIDing hard drives for speed does not make sense at all these days. The RAID controller starting up would eat a lot of time out of your boot time as well.

I would just keep both drives separate. The Blue for the OS / programs, and the Green for storage.
