I want to make a Steam Podcast

compuwise

The guys that I play online with use Steam chat and sometimes we have some pretty awesome conversations.  I have not found a good way to record only the audio of the Steam chat.

I tried Audacity and to get it to hear both me and the other players I choose a setting that makes it echo (not reverb).  It plays the sound back to them and it is pretty annoying.

What I am doing right now is useing FRAPs.  I have to set the video quality as low as it will go because on normal I ended up with a 300gig file the other day. lol

I can compress and convert the file but that takes forever and would love to just record once and that be it except for normal editing.

Any ideas?

The guys are not willing to go to TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, etc.

If you have a creative sound card you can use the what you hear setting on the microphone to be able to record the audio on your computer.

Why exactly do you not want to use teamspeak or mumble? The audio quality on those programs is a lot better than the Steam calling audio.

  • 4 months later...

I am just using Fraps, Audacity and uploading to YT and SoundCloud.

Have not had much success with NVIDIA's ShadowPlay yet but it still looks pretty good.
