Can I customize the tiles in the start menu.

Hans Power

Hello,

I finally switched to Win 10 just yesterday and so far it's a bit of mixed bag - it's really, really ugly but on the other hand some things are rather convenient. What I couldn't figure out, though, is if/how you can customize the tiles in the start menu like adding new tiles with games shortcuts, for example or adding a tile for thunderbird instead of Outlook and stuff like that.

A small how-to would be nice or a link to one or something like that. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Thanks for the info, I missed that point.

And yes, compared to AERO in windows 7 I find it really, really ugly. Everything looks just super sterile to me. I use a red colour theme atm and that's okay-ish but not pretty in any way, shape or form.

to me aero looks super tacky and old. This flat style from 8.1 and 10 is much better looking in my opinion.

I liked the transparency effect of Win7 a lot and usually I could create a coherrent colortheme with pretty much every background image - I especially like the colourless transparent option - just goes with everything. The colour themes in Win10 are much more restrictive and it's harder to create something that fits together. Also, the lack of colour grading together with some of the Icons (like the trashcan) kinda remind me of Windows 95 at it's worst.
