I need a mechanical keyboard

BghMc

Hey! You might know me from the "I need a gaming mouse" thread, or not know me at all. Anyways, I'm now looking for a mechanical keyboard now! I don't know much about sadly but I'm really frustrated with my current keyboard because typos are flying eveywhere. Anyways, I need a budjet of about 100$ or a lil' bit more. Thanks again! Oh, I'm looking for a bright "flashy" keyboard with a few programmable keys, I don't need a number pad but it'll be nice if I had up, down, left, right buttons.

Thanks in advance!

Try out some switches and tell us what you like. It's not a good idea to just gamble on one you might not like.

I don't know how much they are $ but the corsair vengeance K95 or K70, however it all depends on what key switches you like try going into a store that will allow you to take a keyboard out of a box and try out the switches.

So I spelt something wrong in my post... I don't care I don't read through what I write and I type very quickly.

Intel 3770k stock, MSI Z77A-GD65, MSI GTX 760, Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600Mhz 16Gb, Corsair RM 550W, Samsung 830 256Gb, some random hdds.

The G710+ is over $200.

What? o.O http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-keyboard-920003887

I bought mine nearly right after Linus's video about it and it wasn't even that much.

Hmm. It is..

This is why I avoid converting currencies whenever possible.

It would help a lot if you'd let us know where you'd be buying it from, and which switch type you prefer....like Red and Black (Linear that is no bump, and non-clicky) , Brown (tactile, there's a bump, and non-clicky) or Blue (tactile, that is there's a bump, and it's clicky). Which form factor do you want, whether full-sized or 80%/Tenkeyless) and any preference for brand. W/o these info, we'd be recommending KB's blindly.

Well my bad  :/ He first should try some switches .. He can go in a local store with electronics and see what switches the keyboards have and try them out..

No keyboard fits those specs for that price. Are you willing to compromise macro buttons?

Sure!

Wait, switches? What are they?

Is it like each color is better or something?

Are switches like how easy it is to type?

Sorry, n00b alert :/

EDIT:

Okay, I still don't get switches but I'd prefer if the keys were PBT Plastic and if the keyboard has at least 2KRO

Brown switches are the most comfortable for new mechanical users, try this keyboard: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-keyboard-sgk4020gkcm3us

I can buy anything from here: http://www.computeandmore.com/index.php

From Thailand? Hmmmm....only one in your price range would be the Quick Fire Rapid, seems they have Cherry Black only. You really ought to try out the various switches before deciding. Most would recommend Blue, great for typing and good for gaming, but can be annoying to those around assuming you are not alone when you use it. Red is Linear, easier to play games with but, not too good for typing as it's very light, one tends to make typos with Reds. Black, to me is pretty damn good for typing and gaming. I was using a Filco MJ NINJA Black to type and game with, can't say I could find any fault with it.....Brown would be for those who want a compromise between Blue and Red.....it has a tactile feel (a bump) of the Blue (similar feel, but not exactly the same), has no click of the Blue and has the same actuation force of Red.....that is, the key would feel lighter than Blue.

Honestly, telling you all this would not help at all as you'd really have to try the switches out yourself to decide.......perhaps visit Panthip Plaza?

Yeh, I will soon :)

But what will trying out switches do?

Each switch is like a different type of key sensitivity right?

Trying out the various switches would give you an idea of how they feel, and the sound they produce. All will produce noise especially if you bottom out your strokes (that is, when you depress the keys right to the bottom when you type), the Blue will have an extra 'click' before you bottom out, thus will still be the loudest. Also, they have different weight, the Red and Brown are 45g IIRC, while the Blue is 50g while the Black is 60g.....trying them out will give you an idea which would suit you best, in terms of feel, and perhaps the noise as well......most, not all, love the 'clicks' of the Blue.
