whats the difference between a58 , a78 and a88x chipset motherboards for fm2+? is it worth spending extra bucks for a88x ?

for fm2+ socket there are a58 , a78 , a88x chipset motherboards . a88x chipset motherboars  are relatively higher in price . so is it worth spending the extra bucks for a88x ? or should i go with cheeper a58 , a78 ? is there a performance decrease if i go with a58  or a78 ?

Motherboards don't really affect performance but they can play a role in overclocking and have different features.

A78 brings SATA III 6Gbps and native USB 3.0. Worth it over A58. 

 

A88X brings more features but more importantly most A88X boards will have better VRMs which will get you better, more stable, more reliable overclocks.

 

But once you get to the point where you're buying an expensive A88X board to overclock an A10 or Athlon X4, you might as well buy a cheap 1150 board and an i3.

thanks , but i want to build an apu machine . wont be using another gpu . just the onboard r7 . and might overclock the apu . so what should i go for ?

gta5 , far cry 3 4 , but i will be playing in 720p most of the time as i can get more fps and might try 1080p sometime but wont expect more than 30 40 fps . but i will overclock the apu .

his only other option for iGPU gaming is Broadwell... and you can build a whole APU system for the price of the i5 5675C alone.... only place i find it (in stock) is on amazon atm, 380 USD.... ouch. It was bad enough when it was only 294 USD

only to get the screen to work. So if you got a old graphics card lying around, you can use that to start up the system and update the BIOS

Nope the Mobo will say no to the CPU I heard... It probably think its a fake CPU so it refuse to use it!

NOPE, cuz i bought a A88X board without proper bios on it. Guess what. NO IMAGE.

Forgot to mention the 68 chipset. AMD updated the 58 to have sata 3 and pcie 3, unfortunately the did not warn the MB manufactures this was coming so the MB makers had allot of 58 boards in stock and unsold.

I have the msi a68 with a 7850k and the gigabyte 88 with the 7870k.

Gigabyte neede an f8 bios update to support the 7870k.

MSI was late having an update for the 7870k on the 68 board cause they went with an updated design for the 7870k called the v2. They finally put out the update but last I checked the non-v2 68 board does not list the 7870k on their cpu list.

My 68 board on AMD's autotune froze at 4.5 ghz.

The 7850k came with the old style amd heatsink, the 7870k came with a nice twin heatpipe low profile design with a nice quite fan. I have a cheap T2 on the 7850k but went with a stock fan on the 7870k. Did not overclock the 7870k cause its my kids build.

Don't go with EVGA overclocking ram. I did and regret it.

 

Oh and the A10 blows away an I5 chip to chip. Fanboys hate when I say that....
