You could always put a hard drive in a silencer and a green drive would be good for you.

WD Red 3TB. It comes with an extra robust enclosure that makes it nearly silent compared to the other different capacity models.

Why so Silent?

I was thinking that, modern hard drives aren't that noisy anyway

Momentanly I have an old 7200U/min Drive an it is so LOUD.

This time I want the most silent drive I can find :D

I'd probably invest in an SSD, you'll get zero noise then :)

I use a SSD as my boot drive, but I don't want to pay 500$ for a 500GB SSD.

The the only real option is either a 5,400rpm 2.5'' laptop drive or a 5,900rpm WD Green drive (or similar), you can't get any quieter than that unless you wrap it in sound suppression material but then you'd have a cooling problem.
