RAM at 99% without anything running

Hello, I have a problem with my Ram sometimes running at 99% without anything running. This problem started after i installed windows 10, but I don't know if it has anything to do with it. It first appeared a week ago when I was playing wow and it suddenly started lagging intensely. Since it was late I didn't pa attention and just turned the computer off and went to sleep. The next morning when I turned the computer on I noticed that it was really slow,even google chrome was lagging. I needed to restart it a couple of times and it went to normal. Then it appeared again today while playing the game for 2h it stared lagging and i went and checked what was wrong and saw that the ram is at 99% capacity. I restarted the PC a few times and it remained this way. What could be wrong? is it a software or an hardware problem? How can I fix this?

there might be something running in the background processes. can you take a pic of that? (scroll down in the task manager)

 

also try doing a virus/malware scan

 

either a virus or a memory leak x[

Click the memory column again. You're sorting from least to greatest, rather than the other way around.

Click on the memory tab, to sort the programs by how much ram they are using...

 

Also is your page file active?

Do you have a Killer E2200 or some form of Killer wifi chip on your motherboard? You can check by right clicking on the windows logo, select Device Manager and go to Network Adapters.

I have a Killer E2200 nic and I'm not running into ram issues with it on win 10 so that shouldn't causing this to happen.

Here, i lined them from the most user to the least: but if you count alltogether this shouldbe like only 3% used, not 98%.....

I had this exact same issue so I just want to make sure that this isn't the case. For me I manually updated the drivers and disabled the network data usage driver in the registry and my memory leak has since stopped.

I have Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

Does the memory usage slowly increase the more you use the internet (for example Google Chrome, Steam downloading ect)? 

 

I had the problem that you are describing and I followed these steps and I no longer get the issue! (Quoted from a reddit post)

 

"I have succesfully fixed the issue (for me at least) by simply updating my network drivers from Killer. Download here: http://www.killernetworking.com/support/driver-downloads -> Install (requires 2x restart) -> immediate effect with only 10-20% memory usage whereas before I would have 90-99%.

If the above doesn't fix it for you, try manually disabling the network data usage driver (the culprit) by following these steps: 

 

Open up "regedit" and go this key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Ndu

Change the "Start" value to 4 (to disable it)."

 

Please post back once you have attempted this, I'd love to hear whether it also worked for you!

Will try, but the ram usage doesn't slowly increase. It is allready at 98-99% the moment the PC turns on.

 

I tried, but when I start installing the update, an error cames up and stops the installation. Setup Suite Launcher Unicode has stopped working...

Hmm, that does seem quite odd... Have you tried the registry edit?

 I tried it now and then restarted the PC and it is fine now, the RAM  usage has dropped to normal. But am not sure if it was becouse of the fix or the restart. The other time it allso fixed itself after restarting the PC a couple of times. Well see if it returns in the future, I hope not.

Next time when it happens, please make a picture from the performance monitor, not the task manager.

The task manager never tells you 100% of the truth.

 

Its way easyer to find memory problems with the performance monitor, since it displays everything.

MEMORY LEAKS!!! This is about the 8th post about it. It is windows 10 bad devs!

Not a mem leak if he says it's at 99-100% mem usage immediately after a reboot. Something is running and doing something bad.

 

resource monitor is a better tool, as said, for monitoring specific ram usage

I have a Killer E2200 nic and I'm not running into ram issues with it on win 10 so that shouldn't causing this to happen.
