In almost every console vs debate I saw the people on the console side saying that one of the reason they prefer console is to be able to sit on their couch. From what I can understand the shield can stream your game to the tv. You can also use it to stream netflix on your TV. So now if you buy a decent gaming pc with a nvidia gpu you pretty much have the best of both world. The only reason to have a console would be the exclusives.

I would like to hear your thoughts.

Do you think the Shield can be a console replacement? Or is it just a gimmick?

I think it's the kind of things that can help console gamer at least get interested in pc gaming

But if your pc is not in the same room of your big tv then you run into a problem. I don't want to use a cable that goes through my entire house.

If you want to play from your couch just buy the Couch Master and use your keyboard and mouse from there. Or you can just use your Xbox controller and plug your PC to your TV via HDMI and you good to go.  :)

Again if your pc is in another room with the shield you don't need to move anything just plug it in and you're good to go.

The chromecast is cool for streaming video but for gaming the delay is completely terrible

I don't see much point in it. Who's gonna sit on their couch and stream games from their desktop to a device with a small screen and controller-like controls when they can just play games on their desktop?

If you could stream from ANYWHERE, that'd be a different story.

Definately a gimmick. First off, as joel said, you can plug your PC into your TV. Secondly, not all games can be played using a controller, so you may have to find a way to bring your mouse and keyboard to the couch if you wanted to sit there so badly. Third, I'm sure most PC gamers who use controllers have a generic Xbox 360 controller, and the cord likely isn't long enough to go from your PC to your couch. (Unless they're like right next to eachother.)

Console doesn't beat PC because of the couch, console beats PC because of price and it's ease of use - Nvidia Shield can't touch that market.

I can picture Shield selling just as poorly as the Wii U.

I wasn't expecting anyone to play starcraft on this but just playing casual games on your couch and not having to move your entire setup to the living room. (I don't have hdmi cable long enough to just plug it in my TV from my room).

I don't play Starcraft, but still. Unless there are USB port on a little device that plugs into your TV for you to attach a mouse and keyboard/controller, than it's not that great of a revolution over console gaming.

I think it is cool, instead of bring your computer around the house you just bring the shield and it has the fastest mobile processor so it can play all the Android games with no problem.

This. And reviewers seem to be happy with it giving it good notes for what its doing. It definitely may find a market and it will be same market as the one which buys GTX Titans or 780. But streaming is available on GTX 650ti or better and since the resolution is only 1280x720 even 650ti will play most games nearly maxed out like crysis 3 etc. and you can play any games you have that support controller, aren't limited to steam games either. And you can have emulator running with superior controller onboard directly on shield (not streamin).

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

If I got a shield, I'd want to be able to play pc games on it, while someone else uses the computer normally, but this is not possible.. U get 1 or the other .. Not both.. So until they fix that, I'm not interested.

With Kainy, the shield becomes much better for anyone who buys it, as you can stream any game from any computer that can run the game and the software at the same time.

I see the shield mainly as the perfect emulation device.
