How do I install windows with no optical drive?

WillMcp

I'm building a new PC and I'm thinking about not including an optical drive in it (because honestly how often does anyone use it anymore) but then I thought of a problem. I don't have an ssd or usb drive with windows on it to boot from so I don't know of a way to install windows without using the CD which would obviously require an optical drive. Is there a way of getting windows on a new computer without a disk reader or am I forced to get a case with external 2.5" bays for an optical drive?

Even if you had to install windows with a disc, you don't need a case with 2.5" bays....  Just plug in the optical drive, have it sitting on a table next to the case, install windows, remove the optical drive... you'll never need it again after that.  Or you can buy an external optical drive...  But really, you should install it with a flash drive.

Download the ISO file for the version you're wanting to install from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Then either carry on with the set up and install it to a flash drive or you could use this tool and select the ISO to create a bootable drive https://rufus.akeo.ie/

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K | GPU: GTX 1080Ti | Case: Corsair 750D Airflow | Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula VI | RAM: 16GB Vengeance Pro | PSU: Corsair AX860
