AIDA64 vs prime95

Go to solution Solved by iamdarkyoshi,

Aida64 is more of a real world strain, whereas prime95 beats the absolute shit out of the CPU.

What's the difference in these two stress testers?

prime95 is overly intensive and pumps voltage through the cpu which damages it

aida64 just pushes it to 100% and is more safe

here we go with the prime95 uses too much voltage, thats why you use adaptive or static.....

it doesnt damage it either.

Prime95 has quite the reputation of being a potential CPU destroyer.

AIDA 64 is a much more realistic benchmark, despite being synthetic. It puts stress on the CPU in a similar way to what heavy use would, whilst Prime95 just puts the CPU into a warzone, effectively.

Aida64 is the better program. It gives a more realistic load and doesn't have the same issues with adding voltage that P95 does.

So AIDA64 to test for stable ocs?

Basically, yes.

Prime95 can really wreck your CPU if you do some heavy overclocking. AIDA64 all the way.

So AIDA64 to test for stable ocs?

Depends on your CPU bit. With newer (post-Ivy) Intel CPUs Aida64, OCCT and XTU are most recommended testing software. But with older Intel and all AMD CPUs Prime95 is still valid option.
