so i was wondering instead of a ESD strap that if a pair of latex gloves (What the doctors snap on before to use that deadly finger lol) would do the same job?

Don't think so. But you don't even need to bother with that stuff anyways.

some people are prone to getting static shock, i havent felt it or anything in a long time but i just want to be sure, dont want to damage any of my parts

If you touch your case and don't get kinky with someone on a shag carpet you're not going to kill your components.

Well electrictiy doesn't conduct very well through rubber so I guess they wouldn't be completely useless. Anyways I never take any greater percautions than just touching a hunk of metal every time I move around a lot and so far I hadn't damaged anything.

Yep. I've been doing this all my life for the most part and the only time I have ever used a strap is when an employer required it. Aside from that I just ground myself on something metal.

You would be surprised to know that a static shock can go through plastic and kill components.

Touching something metallic that is grounded is a better idea.
