i want to cool my i5 4690k and i don't know if i want to go with the kraken x61 because it offers great performance and looks awesome in my opinion but would it be too over kill, would i be just as good going with a kraken x41 or maybe even a dark rock 3 or hyper212 evo.

Are you planning to do extreme overClocks? If,no get a BeQuiet! Pure Rock ( the pure rock is better then the 212 Evo,for the same price )

If yes and you don't have a ton of space for a big rad gets the x41 Kraken. It may only be 140mm rad but it's thicker and it performs around the same as a Corsair h100i. If you've got the budget for a big rad go for the x61 Kraken

how high do you think i could get my gigahertz to

Considering the size of the evo. Don't expect to get some balls to the walls oc on it. You'll probably be able to get a mild overclock on it depending on several factors, such as your room's temperature, the overclocking ability of the chip.

Wanna hang out with me and people like @Theslsamg, @ Ssoele, @BENTHEREN, @Lanoi, @Whiskers, @_ASSASSIN_, @Looney, @WunderWuffle, and @nsyedhasan. Well.... Check out: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/48484-unofficial-linustechtips-teamschnitzel-server-teamspeak/

HYPEr 212 evo.

It says Hype.

Go for it.

It's overrated.

OT: What's your budget ? I'll have one for each range, but a more specific budget would help if you want more options.

  1. For $35 I would get a cryorig h7
  2. For $45 I would get a be quiet shadow rock 2
  3. For $65 I would get a Phanteks PH-TC14CS
  4. For $90-110 I would get a be quiet dark rock pro 3 or a CM nepton  240m

I would get a Noctua NH-U12S.

I have the predecessor and love it.

All the products I have seen from them are great. They perform very well and are quiet. They have great mounting and will last you for at least 7 years. That is how long the warranty lasts and they will also supply you with new mounting hardware (if needed for a new socket) FOR FREE!

I know they cost a little bit more, but you also get much more.

About the Ghz, my CPU stays within reasonable temps with resonable rpms (7V adapter) on the fans up to 4.6 Ghz (couldn't get it stable any higher). So there is that. If your case has better airflow than my small TJ08e, it will be even better.

If you want more....just get the NH-D15 ;-)

try getting ur hands on one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181011

was around 50bucks but had pretty close performance to my new corsair h80i ( using arctic silver 5 cross method , vs stock paste h80i )  after i did cross method with silver 5 on my h80i it was a different story though  but yeah great cooler for its price ( if u can still get hands on one )

if u cant get hands on,   try looking for a scythe mugen 4 game edition ( 2 fans 120mm )

100% to the a70 because a h80i blows a h50 away and my corsair a70 was really damn close to my h80i  ( it would perhaps blow away the h50 or atleast be better by quite abit )

with the corsair a70 i was able to cool a 2600k on 4.6ghz 1,36v at 70*C max

remember that it might not be easy to get a a70  if u cant get one go with a mugen 4 ( dual fan version )
