I challenge you to find or build a Pc to compare to the PS3.

Requirements:

* The PC Parts must be from 2006 (Since PS3 Launch Date)

* You have a $500 Budget (Asking Price of PS3)

In the end, would the Ps3 would have been better for the long run knowing it's life span.

You can get the highest-end hardware available in 2006 for $100 total now. Because that's nine years old. So I could probably build the equivalent of three or four PS3s, with money left over. Before you tell me to "do it then," note that I don't want to scavenge Craigslist or eBay.

your point? You know sony lost a LOT of money on each ps3 right?

My point is for Longevity a console is better, but for quality PC.

If your point is that the PS3 had a cost-to-performance ratio much better than any PC at the time, then might I direct you to this?

Sony was losing money on every PS3 sold -- they cost about as much as a decent PC at the time to manufacture.

I don't care about Sony, I am talking consumer wise. BTW, I am not a console fan boy. I plan on to build a $2,300 gaming pc.

Alright, well my answer is that yes, I can make a $800 Gaming PC from 2006 that performs just as well as the PS3 -- better, perhaps.

See, Your going over budget.

So was Sony.

I'll follow your logic here. I'll build someone here a $1,500 PC, and sell it to them for $100. They now have a $100 PC that is worlds better than the PS4. Build me a PC that is better than the PS4, and do it for $100. You can't. I sold it at a loss, and an actual PC can't be obtained at that price, with that performance. Do you understand?

I snapped a 100$ gpu and 50$ psu in my PC in 2007 and played 1080p games pretty damn well. I know the PC cost more, but not everyone had laptops and tablets back then, desktop PCs were very common in your average household, and it was common for people to snap gpus in them and make them gaming machines on the cheap. May have only been dual core but it worked great. Played crysis. I enjoyed gaming on it much more than my ps3s.

It's a simple fact of life that consoles will always win on value during their initial release and possibly a majority of their lifespan depending on advancements.

Console manufacturers not only get bargain prices on components, they often take losses on sales. This results in an incredible cheap product for performance.

That didn't happen this console generation, and that's why PC gaming is catching on big time with the regular gamers. A mistake on MS and sony's part imho

It did happen though. Unless you're talking about those builds who rely on SteamOS to play any games.
