Changing my real name.

Well recently i have been thinking of changing my real name because frankly i hate my current name, i think if i really want to change my name after a month of thinking on it i'm going to do it. and i was wondering what you guys thought on someone changing their name. quite a random topic i feel but i'm bored and i wanted to talk about something.

If the name is bad and there is no family objection do it. It is a lot of hassle though.

I wouldn't, just ask people to call you by a nickname you chose and keep your real name so you don't have to do all the paperwork

Depends on where you live.  If you're in the US, just do some paperwork.  And there are probably some permissions involved for minors.

I'm in the US and i'm a minor (from what i have seen changing a name if you're a minor is much easier than if you where a adult.)

My real name is 'Austin' it may be some work but i really dislike it and i rather be known by something else than it, it may seem like a childish thing to do in some cases but it's something i do want to do.

If you want to just do it. But you have to change everything. Everything that has your old name. It's a lot of work. Also make sure it isn't something like c**t slayer... Sorry if the language is a bit harsh, that word isn't as strong in Australia

My mother thinks it's a good idea if i genuinely want to, and i don't quite have a much of a father figure in my life as of now, not that i would want him to be in my life.

In my opinion the 'real name' bullshit means nothing, if you are uncomfortable with it then in my opinion it isn't your real name, pick a name that you like and are comfortable with and that'll become your real name, people may disagree with me but I really couldn't care less.

Do it bro if your moms cool with it you should have no problems. From Austin to Thomas sounds good even thought Austin sounds fine it's up to you.

in my city if ur a minor its easy to change ur name because ur name isnt circulated in public offices etc

if ur older its a bit hard but doable

I mean, just tell people to call you Thomas.  It's not that hard, and saves all the work of getting a legal name change.  And who really cares what the government calls you? :P

 

I mean, even if you do change your name legally, you'd still have to tell everyone to call you the new name anyway.  It's not like you change your name and the world magically forgets your old one. :lol:
