Hi,

I have been thinking about life and what to do? So i have seen that in Finland Where i live. There is no internetcafes or anything like it. When i was 15-16 there was one but it has stopped its bisness.

I was wondering is it hard to start a internet cafe and how expensive would it be? For me its really interesting but im just wondering if it would not be profitble :S

What do you guys think?

Business sales and profit would depend where you live - rent, power, water, etc. is much more expensive in a big city then it would be in a small town. However, in a big city, you're much more likely to draw in customers. If you start one in a big city, as long as you get the word out that your "cafe" is open, then people will flock there. And since there are no internet cafes where you live, this will also help sales.

for exmaple. when I went to korea there were internet cafe's everywhere. and they make a pretty good profit also. (city was seoul so there was a fuckton of poeple)

quite a few WAN shows back linus mentioned a computer store where you could come in with your pc, and use their help to troubleshoot.

i had this idea to combine that with an internet cafe, and have that near the "local" tech college.

intermissinon: my local tech college is country leader in ICT and electronics classes, as well as a few other things, theres only one disadvantage: its in the middle of cauliflowers.

literally.

its so bad to the point every student union has the same clubhouse: the only pub in town.

this is a region with GREAT demand for a place for techies to hang, help each other troubleshoot, game a bit, and have a drink.

theres a few hard parts in starting up an internet cafe, listing from most obvious to "i never thought of this"

- getting customers to come in the first place. you need to be discovered as a nice place to hang.

- administration. this requires no further explanation.

- a deal with your ISP: you wont be running that internet cafe from home equipment, certainly not when it becomes popular, and people want to have decent speeds.

- network equipment like wireless access points, same reason as above.

- wifi rules: its obvious customers wont be allowed to browse for "nature movies" or "yarrharr", but you have to go deeper for both your own sake, and the sake of your customers.

Depends on the size.

But consider about $1,500 per computer. Plus routers, etc etc. You'll need business grade internet. That's not cheap.

You'd also need space. High profile, more flow.

I'd get a mini bar. No alcohol, but food and drink. Huge margins in that.

Everyone has internet at home they don't need a cafe.

You'd have to be a cafe first and then tack on the intertubes
