My god is it worth it. With my AMD CPU it took my computer from sounding like a airplane to quiet overclocked beast. Totally worth it.

In short, yes, it will cool better, and do it quieter than stock.

The long answer: what is the purpose for needing a better cooler? Quieter operation? Better cooling for overclocking? Better cooling just because cool=better? More detail is better. What CPU, why you need more cooling, current temps, all of that.

If you are running at stock speeds, the stock cooler is probably enough, unless you just want quieter operation.

Thanks for the feedback!

A BeQuiet! Pure Rock is better. This really needs to get around that the BeQuiet! Pure Rock will offer better temps and be much quieter.

Maybe. There are coolers in that price range that perform better, cheaper coolers that perform as well and we don't even know your temps therefore we don't know if you even need to spend the money. My cousin for example has an Evo on his i7 3770 and still talks about how he wants water cooling even after I told him it was pointless since he was loading in the high 50s anyways.

I for example have an Enermax ETS-T40. It's not the easiest to find but it costs about as much as an Evo, looks nicer, has (IMO) easier to use mounting hardware and it cools better.

It needs to get around that a lot of coolers in general are better, but that's how a bandwagon works. Ignore all better options because the one that is most talked about wins.

It also need to get noted when suggesting that Pure Rock is also more expensive ($5-10) and not necessarily yet available so widely, being somewhat new. But sure its better in both performance and noise levels.

Actually just checked, the 212 Evo is $25 and the pure rock is $27. That's also because the 212 Evo has a think it's like a $10 mail in rebate also.

You know that varies per store and region, right? Because the two local stores here have pricing for Evo at €35 and for Pure Rock at €39.

Let's go by the few main currencies we are asked for.

USA the $2 difference hardly matters

United Kingdom pure rock £3s cheaper.

Canada $3 difference hardly matters but if it's matters the 212 Evo is cheaper.

How much can that €4 really be even though it will be a heck of a lot quieter and have cooler temps?

Yes prices vary through store but what about price matching? Any store I ever been to as price matched to an extent so I stay their customer.

Totally agree, the hyper 212 evo is getting old, same as with AS5, they are not bad products but they have to stop being marketed as the only go to choice, they are not, at least not anymore.

I am in the market for a new cpu cooler, i was looking at the hyper 212 evo and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is worth buying. If not please refer me to cooloer around the same price range (>40$)! Thanks!

The CRYORIG H7 performs better, quieter and looks better for the same price.

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h7

The Thermalright Macho can sometimes be found for 40 bucks and it's a beast

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermalright-cpu-cooler-macho120

The Enermax ETS-T40 is a great choice, but it's hard to find sometimes

There are other options, maybe better than the ones i presented, but the point is not because something is a best seller means it's the best option, it's a relatively old cooler, those reviews have been coming for a long time, and other coolers that perform better have been released in the meantime, they just haven't gotten as much attention.

wow, if that's the case the be quiet! is a no brainer, the mounting mechanism sucks but other than that, it's a superior cooler in every sense.

That is very true. Still, no one has commented on availability thing. Yet, I'm already suggesting both of them. Saying that Evo is bit cheaper while Pure Rock will perform better and is quieter. I'm just saying that, like with any other fanboyish thing, you need to give some options.
