Enabling 64GB 3000MHz DDR4 Memory

Hello again guys!

 

Helping out a friend assembling his PC. So everything is in order, all the fans are spinning, but for some reason I can't boot to BIOS when all of his 64GB RAM are plugged in (Overkill, I know). Never had to deal with this much memory and with high-end components before. Help me out guys!

 

Some extra info:-

 

5960X Processor

RAMPAGE V EXTREME X99 Motherboard

64 GB (8 x 8GB) HyperX Predator DDR4 3000 MHz Memory

Reset bios. Update bios. Don't use XMP profile.

Okay can you help me out with the steps? SO I should clear CMOS first right?

 

and how do I update the BIOS? and do I do all of this with the RAM installed or should i just use a single stick of memory first?

did you try using the 32 then the other 32 to see if it a problem with the amount of memory or a ram slot or a ram stick?

Well on mine you go to the asus website and download the correct bios. Take a flash drive and format it to FAT32 and put the file on the drive. Restart the computer with the flash drive in and enter bios. From there there is a section for the asus bios updater. All this should be on the Asus website with instructions on how to do it for that mobo.

It should say to reset the bios before upgrading. Sometimes it can fuck up the everything. Just reset bios and update it. It might have a fix for that large amount of ram.

okay so i cleared CMOS and installed the latest bios. But i cant post when i installed more than 4 sticks (32 gb) of ram.

Don't run the sticks at full speed. Other wise its down to the memory controller not liking it or the mobo being bad.

So how do I enable 64gb at 3000 MHz? There must be a way because the motherboard's specs specifically said it can handle that amount of memory at that speed

The memory controller is on the CPU it self. It may not like that ram at that speed.
