So I Sat on my Headphones....

Mattrixx
Go to solution Solved by DIV1D3,

Alright then. I'll go for it. One question though @DIV1D3, do they need an amp or anything? I saw a comment on Newegg that said as much, but I didn't see it elsewhere from a quick look.

Well, I think the HyperX Cloud will probably be the one for me, as I can't trust myself to not sit on them. Interfectorem said they survived a sitting on, and they look like there's less on the headset to break. I'll add those to a headphone list in Google docs so I can remember them though. It's what I do with non-PC specific tech so I can reference it to recommend products to friends.

Thanks!!

I'm using my Clouds perfectly fine without an amp, also, it is a pretty sturdy piece of equipment, sitting on them might not even break them :P

*sigh*

Just a bit OT, is "sitting on 'it' or 'them'" more appropriate?

Some hyper fool (me) sat on my headset, and it is beyond repair. As a consequence, I must now pony up some cash and get something to replace them.

I would like an over-ear, closed, mic-enabled, ok-sounding, non-7.1 surround gimmicky headset for gaming and general internet use. Immediately I thought to get Beats. I don't know much about audio or headsets/headphones, so I thought I should ask for advice from the community I have grown to have an affection for.

A budget of $60 I originally had, but I found something that seemed to be worth the cost even for a starting-to-penny-pinch college student.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826468001 A $78 HyperX Cloud headset that I really love from the looks of it.

Is it really that good compared to a "crappy" Logitech headset like this? Does it offer that much more?

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G230-Stereo-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00BFOEY4I $43 Logitech G230.

Only other option I could think of would be the Audio-Technica ATH-M30x for $68.  As I really don't want to get a separate mic setup that would probably end up costing more than the HyperX Cloud, I doubt going this route this would make sense.

Anyone know of a product I should get, or can offer some insight into my choices? I'm really leaning towards getting the HyperX cloud as it seems the best option.

Thanks!

I like the Hyper X Clouds and the Logitech G430s a lot.

EDIT: I have ATH-M20Xs and a Blue Snowball iCE, together they may cost a bit more together but I love them!

Definitely spend the little extra and get the HyperX Clouds, they're amazing headphones for the price, and will definitely survive a sitting-on. I once sat on mine and luckily nothing happened to them. Solid construction and sound.

The HyperX is a good choice if you don't want to grab a headphone + mic, and yes it's worth it over the G230.

Hmm, the pricing looks attractive, that's for sure. Can't say much else, as I'm no audiohead.

There are other models, I have the one linked there the v2. I think there is a v3 now but not sure on its price.

HyperX Cloud is a good choice, I have them and I think they're great.

The mic is pretty damn good, it sounds damn good and it's arm is flexible.

It's also quite comfortable, and the bass sounds deep without drowning out the mids and highs.

Alright, thanks for the help!

On the the grammar bit, I've always heard of a headset being referred to as a singular object, while headphones are referred to in the plural. So I'd imagine it'd be "sitting on them" for headphones, and "sitting on it" for a headset. Don't know for sure, but I'll edit my last post to reflect that.  :P

No problem mate.

I really don't like how by adding a mic to a 'pair' of headphones makes it singular...

Language is weird I suppose. I've always thought grammar teachers were wizards and could change objects' state on a whim.
