Okay I'm going to be doing a pretty big upgrade to my PC and I keep debating as to weather or not I should get the 790 or stick with my over clocked 690. My budget for the build is round 1k so it's not like I can't afford a new CPU. My 690 is OC to 4.6Ghz and runs very well. It's just the stock boost speed of the 790 is basically the same as my pretty OC'd 690. With a 790 could I easily push 5Ghz without breaking a sweat?

theres nothing saying that the 4790k ccould push 5 Ghz, but i would stick with the 4690k if your only gaming. of your streaming/video editing, get the i7. if not, stick with your 4690k, it does its job.

Lol, no.

Someone supposedly got their hands on a Skylake CPU and was able to get it at 5Ghz on the stock cooler....

Skylake.....

If you're only gaming upgrading is pointless and there's no guarantee what so ever that you will get to 5ghz it's the silicon lottery

Skylake....

Is skylake still like years away or could it be here next year? I just don't want to do what I did with my 980ti. Bought a 970 not knowing if I had saved my money like the next month I could have gotten the 980ti when it came out.

Skylake could come out as early as august.... but possibly later..

my 4790k turbos to 4.7Ghz on a H105.. soo 5ghz would be a breeze.

everyone's banging on about skylake.. but nobody's mentioned that ddr4 is almost double the price of ddr3 and makes zero benifits in games and that a z107 mobo will cost around £300 at launch..

so yeah go skylake and pay more..

skylake isn't going to be this epic jump in performance everyone is expecting.. the difference between a 1st gen and current gen core i5 is only about 15%.. I don't see Intel making a massive jump from current to skylake.. makes no sense.
