i7-5820K + Fanless NH-D14

keja

Hello.

I was wondering if would be okay to leave the fans off the CPU cooler if i install a Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 on a stock i7-5820K within a SilverStone Fortress FT05

like shown in this video

thanks in advance :)

I'd take off one of the fans and use the other with a L.N.A. that comes in the box. if silence is what you want to achieve.

who cares...

Maybe leave the mid fan on (140s are quieter) and only run it if the CPU hits a certain temp you are not comfortable with. However if you have any case fans running i think it's simpler to have the 140 running at low RPMs since it's silent in practice

All the LNA adapter does is it limits the max RPM, I didn't use an LNA adapter in my PC but instead a really nice and quiet custom fan curve

With good airflow throughout the case in general, it's doable, but not recommended if you're overclocking. I toyed with making my PC semi-passive a while ago. It idled at about 50C. The problem was that the delay in the fans kicking in under load caused them to briefly hit 90C before coming back down.

i will leave one fan on, maybe i will try a couple of different fans & i will try and see how the temps/noise are with custom fan curve compared to the low noise adapter
