How Much Will 115MHz Improve My Experience?

I'm comparing 970s and I see the major differences is the speed. For example; EVGA offers the P4-3973 with 1050MHz and the P4-2974 with 1165MHz. What do I realistically achieve with 115MHz more? At what speed do you see a difference in performance?

stock clocks are irrelevant tbh. You can oc to 1500+ and see significant gain.

1500 is way to high and unrealistic

You'd need to benchmark to make sure, but somewhere 2-5 Fps is what I'm guessing. JaysTwoCents proved that it's a little bit more than 1-2. Especially if you overclock even further than the factory models come.

i've seen plenty at 1600+ so not really.. Mines a generic reference card from best buy and still gets 1600/2100.

My ssc hits 1519 mhz without extra voltage so saying 1500 is an unrealistic oc for a 970 isn't true. I probably got a better than average overclocker, but 1500 mhz shouldn't be out of reach with a bit extra voltage on most 970s

Pretty much everyone in the 970 owners thread could get it (or near it) IIRC. I got 1506 just fine on mine w/o extra voltage.

i like the irony of how everyone looks down on strix cards, and this was done on a GTX 980 strix...

power limit and voltage is all the way up, just a bad chip, EVGA SSC asic of 62%. If I give it more than 100Mhz on core and memory it crashes

Not enough to justify a price premium. Unless the cooler is better or the pcb has a custom improved design, there's no reason to spend more for a version of a gpu over another.

Its easy. Look at online reviews of a card that has a similar factory OC, the benchmarks almost always compare stock speeds to the card being reviewed. You will get about 2-3 FPS extra.

 

I don't know where someone got 15 FPS. The added performance wont be anywhere near that for +

115mhz.

hmm my power limit does not go higher than 115, might flash a custom bios and try again.
