Xbox 360 screen mod

I've just finished my A-Levels here in the UK and for my Product Design course I decided to do something a bit different. I made a custom Xbox 360 case with a built in screen! Now I know others have done this before but to my knowledge not in the UK or as part as a qualification. It is not a finished product and has some rough edges and problems but thought some of you might be interested...

I started by removing the 360 from its case and making a new one from a sheet of acrylic. The screen is from a Motorola Lapdock, I chose this because it has a 720p resolution, HDMI in and USB in. This meant connecting it to the Xbox as a display was easy, and I gained a USB port. It also came with built in speakers. I removed all of the Lapdock circuitry and made a small housing from acrylic which is glued to the back of the console. Any more questions I would be happy to answer!

you should have posted this in the console forum so people in the future can find them instead of being buried in the general forum

how's the screen powered?

Using the lapdock's built in battery, restrictions in college stopped me from doing any really deep power mods, so I will be running it off the Xbox power as soon as possible

I am thinking about a vinyl/plastic cover or logo to cover that up

200th post

Wouldn't it of been better to maybe like have the screen on a centre hinge? Look cleaner IMO.

Also I don't really like the casing but I couldn't do better I can think up an idea for a better case so good job.

Very very clever, great work!

What was the difficulty for such a project?
