Hello

I am currently looking at what SSD to get at the moment. I have heard that Samsung 850 SSDs have problems with them but I am not sure if they are sorted out now. What SSD would you choose for performance and reliability if money was not an issue.

Thanks

From my personal experience - corsair, but neutron is too slow. Try looking at the force gt series.

The Neutron has

Read 560MB/s, Write 540MB/s, 100k IOPS 90k

The Force GT is slower and they do not make a 1TB version

850 pro

It has the larger manufacturing process 3d nand which lasts a lot longer than normal SSDs

the 850 evo is the one that had those slowing down problems when data was not accessed frequently

the 850 pro uses MLC so that is not an issue

the other two SSDs are budget options and are rated for far less writes, they are also slower than both 850 drives

My Samsung 850 Evo's have been working a charm

As for like all out best, it has to be Intel 750's now, but obviously they are on another level, and so is their pricing.

So the 950 Pro did not have any problems, only the 850 EVO currently has these problems with it.

Thanks for that information.

So the 950 Pro did not have any problems, only the 850 EVO currently has these problems with it.

the 850 and 840 pro never had any issues

the 840 evo had the issue, it was "supposedly" fixed by a firmware update, but I still saw reports about it going on

then when the 850 evo was released I saw some people having the same issues with that drive

even if they didnt have those issues it is best to go with an MLC nand SSD, which is what the PRO version is :)

There are 1TB Evo's too o:

I never really found justification to spend £100 more on the Pro version

I do not really want an SSD that has problems in my computer.

Crucial has the "highest" rated writes according to their in house testing for what that's worth for the reliability standpoint and also "enterprise level" data integrity features (caps for power loss, etc).  For me though I'd go Samsung Pro Series, might not have as high rated writes but compared to traditional hard disks the Pro meets or exceeds manufacturer rated writes.

All SSDs have had issues for some people, there is no major issue for the 850 Evo, there was for the 840 Evo at one point, but the 850 Evo has been fine.

850 EVO has worked great for me over the past month. I got the 250gb version and I love it

I use the Samsung 850 Pro. Fastest storage I've ever used and very reliable. It's the fastest SSD available on the consumer market that can properly be utilized.

I'm going to punch your face- IN THE FACE.
