I am going to have:

i7 5960x

2 GTX 980ti SLi

4x8gb Corsair Vengance

intel 480gb SSD

4TB HD

Deepcool Captain 240 CPU Cooler

some leds

I went to the website that was linked in

"Choosing the Right PC Power Supply (PSU) as Fast As Possible"

and some options werent there, like chosing sli gpu's and having leds and other stuff like that.

As Shown in This Link: http://gyazo.com/f1b4c03eda1984023f6caa53a6fea0bf

So i was wondering what PSU would be good for this rig.

Any help would be great. thanks in advance :)

are the EVGA SuperNova series better than the Corsair RM series???

Supernova G2/B2/GS/ etc are better yes. The 1000W G1 is good. I would get the 1000W-ish GS or G2, whichever is cheaper.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

In terms of power and build quality slightly better at a lower costs than the RM series, the Seasonic Platinum Catman007 linked is also really good.

When overclocking and running 980ti in sli would i ever go over or come close to hitting 1000w?

hard to say cause it depends on each chip and how much it needs for a certain OC but at 1000W at max it will give you a good safety buffer for some fairly heavy overclocking.

I am running a 980 Ti SLI setup.  If you plan to do any heavy overclocking, I would get at least a 1000 psu.  I have flashed my bios to run 1.255 Voltage and 121% Power (425W max power target at 121%). I have pulled well over 900W on my setup using a meter, Corsair Link, and my UPS display to monitor.  Save yourself the trouble and get a good 1000W PSU.

No overclocking or mild overclocking, you are pushing the limits on the 850W PSU but I think you should be fine.

I have a potato!

I am aware that if you get too big of a power supply the computer cant get its full potential and the wrong amount of power is distributed, problems can occur, etc.

If i plan on doing heavy overclocking would a Corsair AXi 1200i be a good choice? or would i be way to overkill and possibly hurt my computer if i end up not overclocking as much as i think i will?

Even though you should be fine with 1000W, getting a 1200W/1300W won't do any damage.

The AX1200i is a good unit, but it has a huge price tag.

Here are some very good 1200W-1300W options that are cheaper. They are all very good units.

The Antec is the best out of the list as it has Delta as the oem and they are probably the best in the business. They are all solid though, so any of them is a good choice.

Too much wattage can do absolutely NO damage. Too little wattage can end up doing more damage. The PC will draw as much as it needs but if it can't get the amount it needs, you can expect BSODs and crashes all over the place.

As said a larger than needed PSU won't hurt anything but just the PSU efficiency which isn't that much on a good high wattage unit.

Look at it this way. I got a 750W. I use 400W at max load and 100W at idle. When using 400W I get the max efficiency which is 90%. At 100W i get the lowest which is 85%. That is not enough to justify putting your system under 100% load when using your PC to the max. Get a AX1200i or Seasonic Platinum 1000 or 1200W and call it a day, knowing you are safe for several years (factor in degredation, PSUs can't output max capacity for too long)
