Best Lightweight gaming laptop for ~$1650

Would you recommend this over the new Asus G501JW?

No, because I'm paranoid about the efficiency of cooling in a thin form factor.

Yeah, I know the cooling on those isn't the best although the Asus seems to remain quite cool under gaming surprisingly.

Do you know the difference in performance between the 870m and the 960m?  Not sure if I would be getting any more fps if I got the 870m vs the 960m...

Just google a little. You should be able to find some benchmarks.
