So bought the r9 390 today and I wanted to try it asap. I hooked it to my computer and shit happens. The monitor just stays black with no signal detected sign on it. I can get to bios but that's pretty much it. I'm pretty sure my 600W PSU can handle the card (and there is not much power going into it during booting anyway) and I'm also sure that the power connectors are pluged correctly. I can get into the BIOS and see the slot is occupied. Any help is much appreciated.

I think I did that. But I'll look at that once more.

Don't forget to quote people.

What PSU do you have, exactly?

Some older FSP PSU. But don't tell me that's an issue while booting a computer...

Some PSUs can't even provide all their power correctly so your GPU may not be getting enough power to work correctly..

Somebody who knows more about PSUs would be better help than me.

If its anything like the older ones I've seen they have a four 12v rail setup with only 18A per rail. You need to make sure that your PCIE power is coming from two separate lines, that will give you roughly 36A combined supply for the card to draw from which *should* be enough.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

I already found a few more threads. It seems that older Intel boards and new AMD gpus don't go together well. There was a lot of suggestion i saw, but none worked for me, so I'll just RMA that GPU and upgrade the PC completely as soon as skylake comes out...
