Just played airsoft my first time a few weeks ago. Drove out to the country and had a pretty huge turnout (by my area's standards), 50 vs. 50 match. Shot up a forest and field with biodegradable BBs for 6 hours.

It was really fun but I only had "the rental gear" and out of 6 hours, I probably had 3 hours of struggling with a jamming gun and 1 hour of fogged-to-shit mask. Great activity when your gear agrees with you, a little frustrating otherwise but hey... War is Hell.

It's a bit Pay to Win too.  :D

I used to back in the day. Before my mates moved onto their whole marine business. In my garage I've still my ghillie suit, gun bags, tac vests, and sets of camo. Hanging on a hook in my room still is my now dilapidated Original edition Tokyo Marui electric Thompson. That thing was with me in a' many capturing of objectives. Only people I'd airsoft with were my mates, they had enough honor to call out when hit, and the love of the sport enough to role-play objectives out in our stomping grounds. It was kinda like a match of csgo now that I think about it. Just less actual explosions. xD

of course it's pay to win to some degree. you can't spend 20 bucks and expect to have the same quality gear as someone who spends $3000. The same is true with computers, yeah you can play competitive against someone who has a $3000 computer and win, but you can't complain that video games are pay to win just because your $40 laptop you bought off ebay broke down.

I don't think the hyperbole of your numbers quite match up with the price gap of the rental airsoft gear vs. high-end airsoft gear, but point taken. It was also a joke playing off video gaming so it was a comment meant to be taken lightly.

Ah ok. I just used those numbers because they're easily distinguishable. But anyways, just buy yourself a nice mask like the vforce profiler/grill and you can deal with a shitty gun, just being able to see makes everything better. (I play college paintball, not airsoft, but it still holds true)

I would like to, but every time I'm about to purchase a gun I think "well with this money I'm spending on airsoft I could buy [insert computer part here] instead" so I end up not getting into it.

I feel like building my first computer has turned me into a maniacal upgrading lunatic, even if I don't need to upgrade anything.
