windows 8.1 "start menu" icon issue

last time i had windows8.1 on my desktop this happened to origin icon and when i logged back to my microsoft account on my laptop this crippled icon was back I tried reseting iconcache which didnt work I also did sfc scannow a while back also didnt work and whenever i put origin.exe back to start menu it appears the same way, so does anyone know a fix for it? (PS DO NOT tell me to use oblytiles i wont.)

Have you tried unpinning it and then repinning it?

You should be able to put a shortcut on the desktop or task bar without additional programs

Because it's actually pretty nice and fluid once you get used to it. When I had to roll back to 7 due to 8 flipping shit (account services got really fucked up), it took me forever to do shit.

 

@Levent, I don't know a fix to your problem, but I bet you can fix mine. Can you PLEASE link me to that wallpaper?

at 1366x768 resolution? nope. (find me a solution not a replacement, I DO know how to install windows7 back)

okay I fixed it and it took me a while ,here is how i did it.

  • I right clicked to origin shortcut in metro start menu then clicked on "Open File Location"
  • I deleted Origin's shortcut and made sure there was no other shortcut (by searching origin in start menu)
  • I went to origin's install directory and created a file named "Origin.VisualElementsManifest.xml"
  • I edited the contents of the newly created empty xml file and put this

I saved the XML (your notepad or notepad++ has to be running as admin)I right clicked the origin.exe and clicked on "Pin to Start Menu"TA DA! (props to askvg and ps this shit is glitchy as fuck dont change the size of icons or else it will get fucked)
