i am buying a i5 4690 with H97 pro4 do i need to get a thermal compound from the market

I always get retail paste like artic silver or such brand names. Last MUCH longer than stock paste in my opinion.

 

My Hyper 212 Plus is still cooling my I5-2500K @ 4.2 after 4 years.

It should be fine. Since it is not overclockable(Since it is non-k) u won't need an aftermarket cooling solution.But if u do go for an aftermarket solution it is worth applying something like arctic silver or IC diamond

I would say the preinstalled will be fine no need to worry about that.
