Guild Wars 2 + AMD GPU = Black Screen/Crash?

I have a friend whose game crashes after maybe, 20 - 30 minutes, and other people using AMD hardware have experienced this same issue, however there isn't too much information on the internet about any possible fixes for it. I don't want him to have to go and buy an Nvidia GPU just to play one game, but at this point it looks like it's going to be going that way.

 

So, has anybody else had/seen this issue occur and have found a fix for it? That would be extremely helpful.

EDIT: Forgot to put specs,

 

RAM: 8GB's

GPU: AMD R9 280

CPU: i5 4590

PSU: Corsair RM650

 

NO Overclocks.

 

And no, it isn't overheating and it ONLY happens for this game.

 

ALSO: By black screen, I don't mean the general Driver/GPU failure. It's the actual game crashing, and the process is just displaying a black screen, which this can be closed, whereas a GPU/Driver failure would result in a proper black screen that cannot be interacted with.

How are his temps looking? How much ram is the game using. Give me his specs

Really??? I've never had this problem at all with my time in GW2. What GPU is he/she running? Is it overclocked?

This is software related issue.  Either in the game, or in the configuration of your machine.

In what way? Go back to older ones? He's using Windows 10 so I doubt I could go back far enough for it to even make any difference. The thing is, I'm pretty sure it's the game as there are others that have similar issues, but with no resolution. If the game has been developed in a way which crashes on AMD GPU's, that's EXTREMELY disgusting on the developers behalf.

 

We have tried turning down in-game graphical options (Helped but crashed only a few minutes later), and down-clocked both the core and memory.

It's probably because of Windows 10. I played GW2 on my 6950 just fine with Windows 7.

 

At what point did the crashes start happening? After a driver update or after a game update?

My guess it's windows 10 causing the crashes. Check around the gw2 forums to see if people are having problems with win 10.

I have no issues with GW2 on Win 8.1 currently using 15.5(Witcher 3 drivers) on my R9 290

The feature that does not work is "Hardware Skinning" everything looks like poo without it.

 

The other game seems to have shut down. (does not matter not playing it anymore and it started to suck in the end...)

It just crashes after 30 minutes or so, which is extremely odd. My guess is that if Windows 10 was the issue (As others are stating), the game would crash instantly, if open at all. Plus, no other games crash for him on Windows 10, same with me and another friend.

 

Also, after remote controlling his computer, it seems that his SSD was almost completely filled up (He wasn't installing his games to his secondary drive), since then he hasn't reported any crashes. So after all, it could've just been storage for some odd reason.

 

About the AMD drivers and Windows 10, no AMD doesn't have Windows 10 drivers, however the Windows 8.1 drivers work perfectly fine with Win 10 for 2 of my friends and I.
